These terms apply to all bookings made with Hounes Car Rental in Cairo, Egypt. By confirming a reservation, you agree to the conditions below, designed to ensure a safe, transparent, and premium rental experience.

Updated July 2026 Applies to premium & mid-range sedans

1. Booking & Confirmation

Reservations are confirmed once payment authorization is received and you receive a confirmation email. Booking changes are subject to availability and may affect pricing. We recommend reviewing your itinerary, pickup location, and optional services before final confirmation.

2. Renter Eligibility

  • Minimum renter age: 23 years for mid-range sedans, 25 years for premium sedans.
  • Valid driver’s license held for at least 2 years. International travelers must present a passport and, where required, an International Driving Permit.
  • Only approved drivers listed on the rental agreement may operate the vehicle.

3. Payment, Deposits & Currency

We accept major credit cards and select debit cards. A refundable security deposit is required at pickup and varies by vehicle class. All charges are processed in Egyptian Pounds (EGP); multi-currency displays are estimates and subject to your bank’s exchange rate.

4. Mileage & Fuel Policy

Standard bookings include generous daily mileage appropriate for city and intercity travel. Excess mileage is billed per kilometer at a transparent rate shown at checkout. Vehicles are delivered with a full tank and should be returned full to avoid refueling fees.

5. Vehicle Use Rules

  • Vehicles must be used on paved roads within Egypt. Cross-border travel is not permitted.
  • Smoking, racing, off-road use, and commercial transport are strictly prohibited.
  • Any dashboard alerts must be reported immediately to our support team.

6. Late Returns & Extensions

Please return the vehicle at the agreed time. Late returns may incur hourly charges and impact subsequent bookings. Extensions must be approved in advance through our booking team to preserve insurance coverage.

7. Damages, Fines & Penalties

The renter is responsible for traffic fines, tolls, and damages incurred during the rental period. Administrative fees may apply for processing fines. Damage assessments are conducted by certified partners and documented with photos.

8. Insurance Basics

Standard coverage includes third-party liability and collision damage waiver with an excess. Optional upgrades are available to reduce excess and enhance coverage. Insurance is void if the vehicle is used in violation of these terms.

9. Privacy & Data Handling

Personal data is processed for booking, verification, and service delivery. Please review our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for full details on data handling, retention, and your rights.

10. Dispute Resolution

If an issue arises, contact our support team within 48 hours of return. We aim to resolve matters promptly and fairly. Disputes are governed by Egyptian law and handled in Cairo courts when necessary.
